This early body of work explores the phenomenon of influencers and the performance of identity on social media. I use photographs of fashion and style influencers as a starting point, but paint only their clothing, deliberately leaving out their faces and hands. What appears to be a presentation of fashion is thus revealed as an act of self-presentation. By removing the person from the image, I paradoxically leave behind precisely what the images are really about: the staging of the self.

Die Arbeiten dieser frühen Werkgruppe beschäftigen sich mit dem Influencer-Phänomen und der Inszenierung von Identität in sozialen Medien. Ausgangspunkt sind Fotografien von Mode- und Style-Influencerinnen. Ich übernehme jedoch nur deren Kleidung in meine Malerei – Gesicht und Hände verschwinden vollständig. Was scheinbar der Präsentation von Mode dient, wird so als Selbstdarstellung sichtbar. Indem ich den Menschen aus dem Bild entferne, bleibt paradoxerweise genau das übrig, worum es eigentlich geht: die Inszenierung des eigenen Selbst.
